I've become more forgiving of errors, especially online, but this morning, a banner ad said "Take A A Visit." Even with a line break between the two A's, this should have been blatantly obvious to more than half the viewers: they were short lines, after all. The sad part is that it looked pretty promising otherwise, but that one error casts doubt on the quality of the thing advertised.

But textual flubs aren't the only sign that good editors are in short supply. The other day, my mom was looking thru a Christmas catalog. Right as she was turning the page, I shouted, "Ew!" She turned back and I pointed to this picture, which led her to the same reaction. When I read her part of the caption, she started laughing in earnest. I assume that we were thinking of something the manufacturers and distributors had not. Hopefully you'll figure it out. (Actually, if you don't, it might mean you're more decent than I am. Scratch "hopefully.")
