Yesterday I did something that sounds ordinary to many, but I'd never done it before: I went to a pub and bought an alcoholic beverage.
It wasn't my first time at a pub, as I've been going to a series called Theology on Tap. But I usually avoid anything with alcohol in it unless the flavor is overwhelmed by others. Otherwise, I feel like I'm drinking cleaning fluid. Why try now? Maybe I felt out of place coming week after week for drinks not listed on the menu (and having just eaten dinner elsewhere, so I rarely order food). Or maybe I wanted to broaden myself.
Whatever the reason, I ordered HardCore Cider. The name makes it sound strong, but it's not. No buzz in each swallow. After a tall glass, I didn't feel loosened up. The taste was okay, but I'll try something else next time.
Today, it occurs to me that the pub didn't card me. Either it's easy on the rules, or I look older than I thought.

Don't push your luck on the age issue, though. If you're with a group, they may not have a chance to card you every time, but it's not worth the hassle if you get nailed.

First baptist bar and grill
It's the only church in the bible belt that smells like a whiskey still...
