Roger Ebert now opposes the culture of snark. And not just for movies.

So do I. That's the reason I gave up the Comics Curmudgeon: the fun I had with negativity didn't make up for the effect it was having on my overall outlook.

Ebert has written before about his relatively high ratings for movies. He recognizes that people almost never try to do things badly, and even results we consider lame tend to be pretty difficult to make. A kindred spirit, judging from the rarity with which I assign fewer than three stars on Netflix.
