In the absence of poem topic suggestions from LJ, I've taken one of many from my mom. This poem -- a song almost -- will be more appropriate to recite next month, but by then I'd be too swamped to bother writing poetry.

NaNoWriMo,
Who has the time-o
To write a half a hundred thousand words,
With only thirty days
To compose and then amaze?
Such a competition must be for the birds.

NaNoWriMo,
Guess I’ll have to try mo’
To keep my strict perfectionism down.
I won’t be telling lies,
Since it’s not like there’s a prize,
But my word count’s low enough to make me frown.

NaNoWriMo,
Where did the time go?
November is already near its close.
Thanksgiving takes a chunk
From my days and I feel sunk,
But my spirit yearns to see me through these woes.

NaNoWriMo,
I’m feeling just sublime-o!
I met the goal with hours left to spare!
Who knows when I’ll review
What I wrote to plow on through,
But for now I’ll celebrate without a care!

Do they have a place on the messageboards for posting poetry about NaNoWriMo? You should post it.

Would you mind if I direct one of my friends to these entries as something he might want to try?

Go right ahead!

I'd almost forgotten the NaNoWriMo boards.

Hmm, I finally looked at the NaNoWriMo forums, and I don't see the best place to put it.
