My sister pointed me to a quotation of GOP strategist Todd Harris in The Washington Post, regarding Sarah Palin joining FOX News: "This gives her a platform she can use to stay relevant...and to flush out some of her policy positions."
My sister comments, "Much as I would love for her to flush out her policy positions, I'm sure he meant to say 'flesh,' right? And it's in there twice!" She called it a typo, but I'm not finding Google evidence that his words were recorded any other way.
Now, it occurs to me that I've never heard Harris speak. Maybe he has one of those weird American accents where the soft E comes out as a schwa sound. But it's more likely that either he misspoke without noticing to correct himself, or he just didn't know the right word.
