A rhyming canine, but not Underdog
Higgledy piggledy
Andrew R. Mutchler, the
Kinkiest turtle I
Ever did see,
Likes to draw comic strips
Fur-fetishistically,
Typing his posts with not
Two hands but three.
In last week's "Below the Beltway" column, Gene Weingarten engaged poet laureate Donald Hall in a mini-contest specializing in less esteemed poetic forms. I was completely unfamiliar with double dactyls and clerihews, but both men were very clever, despite some rulebreaking when Weingarten took on the sonnet.
Now I feel like getting poetic again. Readers, please give me your own challenges, namely a subject and poetic form. (I will check the rules; it's been six years since I took Technique and Form in Poetry.)
Initially, I was going to have you just respond to this entry and I'd write about you yourself, but that would probably scare some of you off. But if you're so curious, feel free to say something like, "Me, pantoum."
Is this a meme? Well, anyone up to the challenge is welcome to try, but you know me: I won't insist on spreading it.
