(no subject)
Having determined that my old scanner simply didn't have a Vista-compatible driver available online, I ordered a CanoScan LiDE 100. It came today, and it works beautifully. Now I have no reason to hang on to my old computer. My parents can have the old scanner.
That said, I won't be using the new scanner right away. I'm taking a break from Downscale to do more freelance transcription. It's not easy, because the largest audio file is prone to skipping. Nothing to be done but write "[skip]" and "[inaudible]" where appropriate.
