You may think it insipid when a news source uses personification in a story about an inanimate object, but I find it kind of cute. Even when it gets morbid. Last year I got a kick out of a black hole being characterized as a "bully" for "punching" a galaxy. Now there's a "suicidal" planet. Just imagine the volume as it shouts, "I REGRET NOTHIIIING!"
