You know the concept of the uncanny valley? Basically, theory holds that a non-human with a certain amount of similarity to a real human will creep us out. The threshold varies by individual.
Well, it just occurred to me that I don't seem to have a threshold. I understand intellectually why this stuff bothers other people, but when it bothers me, it's for reasons that need not have anything to do with the uncanny. Zombies, for instance, are typically putrid, dangerous, and a sign of a miserable future; I'm about equally scared by the Blob.
Does this mean I'm unusually accepting? Or just unusually wired for emotions? FWIW, seeing and hearing gross stuff doesn't kill my appetite.
