(no subject)
I've been home for 15 hours. Time I reported in so you'd know I'm all right. My full Galapagos vacation report will come when I've illustrated it, maybe next week. For now, the short update.
As I predicted, my clocks were flashing a wrong time when I came in. A housemate tells me there was a 40-hour outage. This during a record heat wave in DC. My family could not have picked a better time to leave.
The equatorial weather was pleasant almost the whole time. I barely sweated, got no bug bites, and suffered no palpable sunburn. And despite my childhood history of motion sickness, I had none of that on the weeklong cruise, much less the six plane rides total. Only this morning did I find myself a little sick, probably from an old passenger who lost the reflexes to cover her coughs. My main concern is that I still sometimes feel like I'm rocking on a boat, especially in bed.
I have an urge to continue a pattern from the cruise: early to bed and early to rise, with extra physical activity in between. I expect to fall back into the familiar once I've caught up, but we'll see.
ADDENDUM: In my mail was a fridge magnet as my Style Invitational prize from two weeks ago. The Empress (as the organizer calls herself) added a personal note to the form letter:
