(no subject)

I found (and did not pick up) a cane on a not-so-busy sidewalk. Why would anyone leave one there? Did someone abduct a disabled person? Throw it from a car to be mean? Get a replacement and forget the old cane on the spot? Or run off ecstatically after a miraculous recovery? (A more credible version is Watson in the first episode of "Sherlock" accidentally discovering that the need was purely psychological after all.)
