Last night I was being driven by my dad, and as we prepared to park, there was a cop car with blinking lights right behind us. We had our doubts as to whether the cop was pulling us over, since we could think of no law just broken. He soon parked near us, but that was when I saw a drink on top of the cop car. Sure enough, he grabbed the drink and took off. That makes two counts of absent-mindedness, since he left the lights blinking even when he'd seen them up close.

I was at once relieved and disappointed. D.C. may not have a major reputation for police corruption, but police ineptitude is pretty rampant.
