I had my first homework since college. Roughly 8 hours of copy editing on Saturday.

Bummer? Actually, no. It gave me an immediate way to fill the long period of solitude (well, solitude except for Millie, who periodically filled the silence with meows that could mean nothing but "I want to socialize"). The coworker who gave me the assignment will take me to lunch tomorrow, and I'll take Friday off without using vacation time.

My folks, who returned late that night, are surprised it took this long for me to get job homework. I'm not so sure that's lucky.

You mean from ASM? It did get me acquainted with acronyms like "NIMH," aspects of GPO style (I have yet to work for a company that uses that style entirely), and many a hardcopy editor's mark, not all of which are recognized readily by my current coworkers. That's about it. ASM style was rather unique, so much of it might never benefit me again.
