Pastime paucity

deckardcanineI'm finally back in D.C. and got to spend even less time with my sister than I thought I would: our spring breaks overlap for less than two days. Oh well, how much could I expect to do with her even if she did stay? Her interests have diverged from mine a lot since we stopped attending the same schools. I did have time for her to see my creative works from the last few months, then play Taboo and Trivial Pursuit with the family of four. The only other way I was likely to have fun with her was by watching a recent movie, and even that's iffy.
When I made my Lent promise against massive sweets and video/computer games, I had not taken into account that Lent would completely encompass my spring break. Clearly it will not be a shortened, snowless version of my Winter Term, where I must have been Gamecubing at least three hours a day nearly every day for more than a month. I also ate a pack of Gushers or a Klondike Bar every day, but at least they didn't occupy much time.
You know how people drink lots of Coke when they want to quit alcohol and chew lots of gum when they want to quit smoking? I've spent a lot of time online in the absence of V/C games. Now that I have a week of free time at home, I expect to indulge in other aspects of V/C games: (1) the sights and sounds of the screen, via mostly rented movies, (2) escapist fantasy, via unassigned literature, and (3) interactivity, via my personal comic saga which you will not see on this LJ. I did indulge in all of these things during the Winter Term, but now they must fill another 3+ hours a day.
OR...being in D.C., it's not like there's nothing outside the house for me to attend. If only I could urge myself out the door when I'm by myself! (Never realized that the Faithful Canine was part shivering chihuahua, huh.)
