Running Hot and Cold
Most people to my knowledge go for winter over summer.
I used to be the same, but now the winter makes me glummer.
Sure, layer after layer beats the sharpest of the chill,
But only balaclavas keep your face from freezing still,
And frankly, I’m less comfortable with all that extra weight
Than sweating through a T-shirt while the sun is setting late.
I don’t get many bug bites, and they’re easy to ignore.
Besides, I like more fruits for my selection at the store.
When cold, I get less active and more likely to be sick,
And snow’s an inconvenience when it’s several inches thick.
Because of this, I take vacations early in the year,
To warmer southern climates that are apt to bring me cheer.
