The Honey Badger
A honey badger one day found
A big puff adder on the ground,
Consuming something. With his paws,
He reached within the adder’s jaws
And took the food. The adder hissed,
But angry threats were all dismissed.
The badger ate the food unhurt,
Until he wanted snake dessert.
What followed was a fleeting fight,
Although each side did land a bite
Or several. Now the snake was dead,
And soon the badger would be fed.
Some minutes passed, and then he too
Fell over. Was the badger through?
Puff adder venom’s very strong;
Most victims don’t survive for long.
But this one needed just a doze
And ate the rest when he arose.
The moral of this whole affair
Is honey badgers just don’t care.
