My long writing assignment deadlines approach, but most of my other work is out of the way. My intense preparation for this morning's abnormal psychology exam paid off, for I had a good idea how to answer every question. I'm still taking notes for an online quiz due soon in the course, and my high interest in the subject of substance abuse disorders gives me mixed feelings (should I really be enjoying drug details?). The weather keeps me switching clothes and I haven't slept well lately, but all in all, I feel pretty good right now. Good enough to share some amusement.

Back in 2001, I found inspiration in a GAMES Magazine sweepstakes called "Fractured Movie Titles," in which sets of words sounded similar to a movie title when you put in the missing word from a list. My version, "Philm Phonetics," leaves out the fill-in-the-blank part and merely challenges you to figure out the corresponding real title. For example, "Musk engine yeller tee" would be "Miss Congeniality." I submitted 100 of these entries to GAMES and they published 24, some slightly altered, in the November 2002 issue. They sent me a $50 check for a game that filled less than half a page. Not bad. I came up with another 50+ later but did not submit any.

It's time I put some of my better entries here in my LJ. They're easier if you say them aloud.
