deckardcanineFWIW, my sister is attending a Guy Fawkes Day festival tonight. Yes, in the United States. Her friend talked her into it. I always thought it was the most ill-conceived holiday in principle, but these people wanted an excuse to celebrate. Their version involves tongue-in-cheek antipatriotism. Yes, with American flags. I'll see what she thought of it.
Meanwhile, my folks are planning to get a second Prius to which our first-gen will play second fiddle, if you'll pardon the metaphor. They offered to let me have the '96 Geo Prism. It would be useful for me to have a car at least twice a week, but I declined. I can't count on myself to maintain it, and I need the exercise of walking. We'll go ahead with our earlier idea of canceling my car insurance.
In an odd sort of way, I feel... empowered.
