Of the best pictures I've seen that you haven't, the five I'd most highly recommend are: The Great Ziegfeld, The Greatest Show on Earth, The Deer Hunter, The Last Emperor, and Dances with Wolves. They all have their faults, but art isn't supposed to be perfect.

I really like the The English Patient and Unforgiven, just to plug those two recent, easily obtained movies you missed.

I know that some of them suck. The prime example that comes to my mind is Gladiator. Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington ought to swap their 2000 and 2001 awards.
