I don't know why I neglected to say this before, but I have my new office now. I got packed on Friday by 3:30 as required, giving me two hours off the usual worktime. Spaces were renovated over the weekend, and I was back in business by 10 on Monday. Unfortunately, (1) the new desk was still filthy, (2) the previous user left stuff in the drawers that has yet to be picked up, and (3) the metal bracing for a roll-out computer tray has yet to be removed from underneath the desk. Also, I was mistaken about the room having a window; I'll need to buy some things for all this wall space. A map or two would be a good start. My one other complaint is that my new desk chair doesn't roll very well.

Despite these, I rather like the arrangement. The location is superior to the cubicle's for all my purposes. I can turn on the computer sound without worrying about my neighbors. I don't have to hear a ringtone keep playing when the phone's owner is away. I don't hear footsteps and wonder if someone is about to appear right behind me (on some occasions I would not notice until they already were there). I also have more storage space, but again, I had enough before.

Coincidence: On Monday, my New Yorker cartoon calendar showed three people with wineglasses in a room full of boxes. One is sitting on a box; the others sit inside an open box large enough for a couch. The first one says, "We're still moving in."

That cartoon is taped to my door for the time being.
