A sort of sortie

deckardcanineAfter sufficient pressure not to post "anonymously" in other LJs, I have timidly made my own. Timidly because I have visions of myself getting too far into the hobby/obsession (hobsession?) of posting a melange of thoughts in the public domain.
Forums themselves are nothing new to me, as I have been enrolled on several listservs and bulletin boards, both halfway important and diversionary. I think my limit on any given day is five. Something tells me it should not be healthy, but the thing is, how else does a text-oriented introvert like me associate with so many actual people? (Therapy helps, but I decided a decade of that was enough.) Plus, my mom keeps marveling at all the diverse knowledge I pick up from forums.
You may have noticed that I listed language among my interests. This could be my most defining interest. Mercifully, I resolve to refrain from proofreading the entries of those who post here, unless the errors somehow render the messages confusing. Also, it is only fair that I warn you about certain lingual devices I use:
-"Tho" for "though" and "altho" for "although."
-"Thru" for "through." Let's just say I have a thing against UGH.
-"NPI" for "no pun intended." I have never seen anyone but myself use this one, yet I find myself making unintentional puns so often that it's almost necessary.
-Once in a while I create a compound word. You should be able to figure them out.
My rose-colored hope is that these devices will find their way into the mainstream. A friend once called me an anarchist for doing so (how seriously is anyone's guess, since he used no emoticon), but I beg to differ. I'm not out to destroy the system; I'm playing it.
