I was in my former President-CEO's office earlier this week for a co-worker's birthday celebration. We commented on what a waste it was to have all that space and decoration with no one using the office except for special occasions. But I was more concerned with the side cover of a book I noticed on the way out, saying Death by Meeting.

Google tells me that the book's full title is Death by Meeting: A Leadership Fable...About Solving the Most Painful Problem in Business. That's a relief. I thought it was a how-to book on bringing about death by meeting.

...Wait a minute. The title doesn't say what the most painful problem in business is. Maybe I was right the first time.

Maybe it's just as well that the presumable owner of the book has retired.

I imagine that it doesn't have the same author as The Tao of Pooh.

The most painful problem in business is managers making the workers do excessive work in order to make their bosses look good. It's killing the morale at my company.
