Oh dear. You know how even supporters of Barack Obama have sometimes called him "Osama" by mistake? That probably happens less often now, but the other day, I saw a headline about "the hunt for bin Laden" and initially thought it was about Joe Biden. Not only does it start with B-I and end with D-E-N, but it's a three-letter, one syllable name followed by a five-letter trochee.

Obama-Biden bumper stickers are doomed.

Osbama-Binladen.

Hmm, what do the struck out letters SNLA stand for? Saturday Night Live Association? Hollywood and Washington are conspiring to turn us over to alQaida, aaaaaahhhhh!

Supposedly a real screencap, but who knows. Certainly none of the people it was posted for, who wouldn't bother watching that network to find out for sure.

I can hardly imagine even Fox doing something that trashy by way of serious news.

Let's hope this Joe is less of a burden than the last Democratic running mate Joe.

As if his middle name wasn't bad enough... Now he's got a third strike.

Then again, what's in a name? George Bush was no George Bush!

You might count his first name as another strike, tho milder. For the last several elections, all the major candidates have had familiar, "friendly" names: Al, Bill, Bob, Dan, Dick, George, Jack, Joe, John... whereas there aren't many Americans who have a friend named Barack.

It's not a common name, but at least it's a cool name. Just imagine all the fun that could be had with it: "Barack solid", "Barack and roll", "Can you smell what Barack is cooking?", "Baracky Seven: Adrian's Revenge", "People in glass houses shouldn't throw Barack" et cetera.

I'm sure there are some people out there who will vote for him for entirely that reason.

(And we can be sure he's got to have a sense of humour about that sort of thing because he's the one who managed to survive growing up with such a name!)
