(no subject)
My home's phone system chose a swell time to finish dying: I'm expecting replies to my job applications. Indeed, I got one email saying that the company has questions to ask but failed to connect by phone yesterday. Had I gotten the email yesterday, I could have replied by the one phone that could send but not receive calls. Now that's dead, too.
What makes the matter more exasperating is that I took an emailed test two days ago that would determine which of us two final candidates got hired by Health Systems Research, Inc., for whom I've done contract work. They might have given up on me by now. Which means that I must continue writing cover letters -- which I can hardly stand because they require me to magnify my credentials and enthusiasm -- and checking job sites for updates.
The phone repairer has been not-so-specified to come between 8 AM and 6 PM today, so as the jobless household member, I got up earlier than usual. Either he's cutting it pretty close, or he came while I was next to a running washer or dryer in the basement and couldn't hear him knock, in which case he should have used the doorbell.
This is really the first time I've wanted a cell phone.
