Error code 259
This has officially screwed up my home computer. Apparently a drive is out of place, so none of my settings get configured. The machine takes longer than usual to get started, my desktop has no icons, I can't use the Search function, Firefox isn't responding, and only a few Explorer cookies are retained.
The worst part is that I can't scan, and therefore can't update "Downscale." The first time I try, I get the error code by number. Subsequent tries inform me that it's already scanning, which it still isn't after however many minutes.
Rebooting doesn't do the trick. Several sites offer a registry scan, but the downloads all fail because the site allegedly can't be found. What's left for me to do??
Last night, while the computer was busy shutting down, I opened the disc drive to take out a music CD. I closed it before the shutdown was complete, thinking no harm done. Was that all it took to cause this recurring mess?
