I should be grateful to hear from only a few scammers, but they are persistent beyond all pragmatism. That "Lafayette Federal Credit Union" I mentioned earlier still sends me text messages now and then, sometimes two at once.

Lately I've been getting cell phone audio notices about my car. I never had my own car. And they always claim it's the second notice. This can only mean that the recording isn't the only automated part of the process.

My annoyance reached a new high today when I got the same call on my work phone. If it happens again, I'll try to find a way to block the number on both phones.

I get notices about my car's warranty, and also that "this is the last notification you will get about your credit card rates". If I press "1" to speak to an agent, and ask why I'm getting calls on a phone that's on the "do not call" list, they either hang up or become very impolite. If I press "2" to have my number removed, I usually get another call within days.

Hell is full of such scammers.
