Bill Cosby was 49 when he spoke of his surprise at finding a long hair on his ear. Dave Barry was 48 when he wrote that his ears could sprout Cher-length hairs any minute. Both contexts implied that it was a recent step in their lives as they approached old age.

I got my first surprisingly long ear hair this year, at 27. This can't be good.

Hair starts migrating as you age. I'm 39 and I have a little on my shoulders and one annoying strand on the cheekside part of my left ear. I'm just glad it hasn't reached my back yet.
