Saw Where the Wild Things Are today. It's not the best film this year for appealing to adults as much as kids, but I'm glad I watched it... and I'm glad I watched it before the month was over. You see, it has a few parallels to my NaNoWriMo story: an unhappy human travels to a world of unfamiliar creatures and becomes their monarch, only to encounter almost as much disenchantment as enchantment. I haven't figured out how to resolve my story, but it might just be similar there as well.

Come to think of it, the book I've started reading at my mom's suggestion, Lev Grossman's The Magicians, also has someone learning that his escape to a "fantasy" land doesn't make life easier.

My son said he heard it called "Where the Mildly Depressed Things Are"... not a bad description, from my experience.
