Memo to writers: You can have a diverse student population, but you cannot have a diverse student. Try "minority," even if that's problematic in its own right.
Well, you could have an ethnically-diverse student (I myself am a Métis, someone of indigenous and European ancestry, though I'm visibly white), and I think that would be a good substitute, as well.
I have a similar background. But it seems to me that it rather distorts the intent of the word "diversity."
Another curiosity is that if a team consists of three Hispanics, and one of them is replaced with a white person (using government notions of such things) this is considered a loss of diversity.
