Yesterday at 5, after months of quiet concern, I moved into my chosen cubicle. The IT guy couldn't have picked a better time to offer to move my computer; I was just going to kill a half hour. He also helped move some of the binders and stuff that I almost never use -- proving in the process that he's neater than me. How I've needed that sort of humbling.
The cubicle actually seems nicer than either of my previous arrangements. There's more leg space and more organized storage space, with drawers the right width for the tray I use to hold small items (not sure what to call it). I also get a better monitor. The only downsides are that (1) some drawers scrape the wall if I'm not careful and (2) it's a little farther from certain locations that matter to me. Quite livable.
