And now my home Net access is working again, without an adapter replacement and without my landlord or anyone else having to do a thing. Maybe it just needed a rest. Maybe it took a slight repositioning of the antenna when I unplugged the CPU, pulled it out, and tried to find a way to open it. (That was a good incentive to clean the spot where the CPU sits.) My current signal strength is "very low," but it's definitely fast enough for me.

If I don't lose access again, I'll have to debate whether to send the new adapter back, keep it on hand just in case, or do my best to install it as soon as possible.

Thoughts?

Still haven't restored my Net access at home. I bought a new and apparently better wireless adapter, but now I have to determine how to open my PC safely. Too bad I wasn't watching when my assistant did it for the first adapter. Furthermore, from the current antenna's position, I'm not sure that the fat new one will fit. Good thing I have a Best Buy membership and a receipt just in case.

But now it looks like my adapter isn't the problem in the first place -- my Wii isn't connecting, either. Tonight, I'm going to ask my landlord to test his sons' Wii for connectivity.

It's a frustrating situation, but at least it made my weekend different.
