Unfriggingbelievable. I told you before how I got a permanently mute DVD, which I tested by selecting the commentary option. Little did I know that even when you get another copy (and I know from the timing that it's not the same copy fixed), the DVD player remembers what options you'd chosen before, so it opened midway thru the opening scene with commentary.

NOW I CAN'T TURN THE COMMENTARY OFF. I've tried every option. The stupid programmers must've assumed we'd never want to go back to hearing the boring ol' dialog instead. (Am I not a movie geek if I never listen to commentary?)

I'll see about using my landlady's DVD player.

Should be a button on your remote to take you to the main menu, can you turn commentary on or off from there?

I went to the main menu and selected "Play." Still with the commentary. I returned to the place where I'd turned the commentary on. There was no "Off" option, and selecting it again did nothing. I watched a trailer before returning to the movie. No good. I selected the last scene, fast-forwarded most of the way, and let it play freely at the ending image until it automatically returned to the menu. Still no good. Ultimately I borrowed my landlady's set.

But once again, this was a blessing in disguise. It gave me the incentive to finish my weekend homework before I could cut it close. Funny how The Song of Bernadette, about the saint who saw Our Lady of Lourdes, should grant me two blessings.
