Ah, jury summons: one of the biggest hazards of D.C. citizenship. This time, Dad and I got summoned for the same trial, but he has an excuse to defer and I don't.

The selection process begins October 21 and will take days to finish. The trial is expected to last 6-8 weeks, so it could end around Christmas.

I rather hope I get rejected on Day 1 like last time. If not, at least it'll be a break from routine and a broadening experience.

Ugh, days to finish the selection process = bad. Must be a nasty case.

For my only call to jury duty, I spent all day in the courtroom only to learn that either the defense or prosecuting attorney decided to take the rest of the day off after lunch, so the entire jury pool was dismissed.

If one good thing came of the time I reported, it was getting to watch Flightplan in the waiting area. Not a great movie, but entertaining enough that I asked to stay to the end.

six to eight weeks means a serious trial; the homicide trial I sat on only lasted three.

It may not be the most fun you'll ever have in your life, but duty is duty.

In honor of your Jury Duty, I will quote Pauley Shore.
"S&M! Kin-kay!"
"Two ply!"
Hmmm...that's all I can think of for Jury Duty.
