(no subject)
As of last night, I have seen all five of last year's Academy nominees for Best Animated Feature. All were worth my viewing.
The last one for me was Coraline. I put at the top of my Netflix queue because its creepiness complemented Halloween, but it turned out appropriately timed for another reason: similarity to my NaNoWriMo plot. Specifically, a depressed girl (well, a young woman for my story) discovers a world that promises fantastic luxury and begs her to stay, but someone sneaky and sinister is at work.
Now I think I'll try to select as many analogous movies as I can this month. Next up is American Splendor, which is about creative storytelling in another medium.
It may be my best bet to avoid quitting in disgust at my own work.
