Months ago, I read a Guillermo del Toro quote: "If you get bored with nothing to do, you are not a writer." This troubled me -- until I realized it's been years since I was truly bored. My mind now knows how to keep itself occupied as needed. And yes, those thoughts are typically along the lines of writing, even if I never commit them to paper or pixels.
More recently, I've started to suspect a connection. We tend to assume that time feels faster with age because a given unit takes up a smaller percentage of our lives to date. In my case at least, maybe time has a second reason to feel faster: the lack of boredom.
