Yesterday evening, I got to thinking about cheesy humor I'd seen regarding carpal tunnel syndrome. Today I'm getting a pain in my right wrist when I turn it or pull my hand back. Very funny, Powers That Be.

I wouldn't think this is CTS, because it didn't come gradually with tingles or anything. Nor did I give my wrist an unusual amount of exercise yesterday. Could sleeping in a bad position have this effect for hours after waking? I think I'll see whether it still hurts tomorrow before calling my doctor.

This isn't a good health day for my office mate, either. She was out yesterday tending a kid with conjunctivitis, and now she's stuffy with a cold or flu. I'm not too afraid I'll catch it, but she is.

There are different symptoms to CTS, depending on which nerve has been abused, and how. It's cumulative; I can't point to one day and say, "This was the day I screwed up my wrist", just thirty years of mousing and keyboarding.

It you have $20 to roll the dice with, get a wrist brace and wear it while you're using your computer, and see how your hand feels at the end of the day. Futuro Wrist Brace: make sure it has a splint from your palm down your forearm.

I'll take your advice into consideration, thanks. Fortunately, the pain subsided completely the next day.
