OK, folks, how do you define nudity? I ask because in the last few months, I've become aware of many uses broader than my own. By default I think of a "nude" wearing nothing at all. In a pinch, you might persuade me to ignore a G-string and pasties or whatnot -- maybe even apply it to the indecent exposure of a single private part. But yesterday I saw it applied repeatedly to He-Man, who regularly covers more than the average American male beach goer.

What gives? Are people too lazy for that level of verbal nuance? Do pervs and/or prudes like to pretend that meager clothing equals none? Or have I gotten it wrong all along?

I think you've got it right, and other people are being very careless with the English language.

"I'm not nude, I'm wearing a hat" :D

I'd go along with indecent exposure of only part (though a nude need not actually have any such parts visible). But it does seem odd as a synonym for "showing some skin".

But He-Man is actually wearing the equivalent of beach trunks plus a harness, though the exact lines are different than those of most beach wear. His genitals and bottom are both covered.

Oh, yeah, He-Man wasn't dressed lightly for the beach when the show was made. I just meant in general.

Yes, people are extremely lazy.

Combine that fact with the fact that some people twist words into making themselves appear correct, and you come up with people who try to enforce their stands of dress on others by calling other people who don't measure up "nude."

If you'll pardon the pun, a g-string is a fine line between nudity and indecency...

It's best not to argue with retards.

To me, that's "half naked", not "nude".
