With my 7-pager out of the way last night, and another paper finished just now, I've had this feeling that the next week will have less stress than the last two. This must be an irrational feeling. No one assignment will take so much time or effort, I imagine, but seeing as this next week is the last before spring break, the cumulative load should be daunting. I think my persistent relief comes from a combo of confidence, ignorance, love for variety, and a certain amount of fun in the work. I'll be reading "As You Like It," and one assignment involves creative writing without a given length. (Creative writing is so therapeutic for me -- why can't I bring myself to it more often?)

On another note, even without the educational and salvational prospects, I think I'd still benefit from attending the weekly Oberlin Christian Fellowship's men's Bible study. The idea of gender segregation in the studies disgusted me at first, partly because it must limit our perspectives, but the women reportedly do talk about things either too sensitive or too boring to share with a male audience. Being introverted, I never knew how joining a group, perhaps especially a religious one, could grant me so many apparent friends automatically. And this may have to do with personal growth, but until this year, I never had such a reputation for humor or perspicacity.

No, I don't think I'm expressing the sinful kind of pride -- not primarily, at least. I'm glad to have pleased others and hope to keep it up. The same applies in this LJ. I don't believe I started it for self-indulgence, but for whoever reads it.

what you described, I found much the same at my college. I found a group of great Christian guys that I can talk about man stuff (read "girls and getting them" and "the dumb stuff we do") with and not have to worry about being ashamed. It is a great thing and I encourage all to find such a group.
