Everyone in my family has lost weight lately: my parents have been trying to do so, my sister didn't like camp food (she once found a bone in a hot dog), and my cat has kidney problems and has been snubbing much of her food. But Mom is worrying about me and wants me to snack -- healthily -- more than I do. I seldom step on a scale, so despite becoming aware of a thinner waste, I was a little surprised to find myself about 15 pounds lighter than the last time. Basically, I have lost all the weight I gained in college, and I didn't weigh much in the first place. If I lose much more, I won't be able to give blood on schedule.

It probably happened gradually, but I have to think about why. I'm not aware of myself eating less than in college; I certainly like the food better here, tho it's bound to be more healthful. I don't think I walk more than I did on campus. My exercise has gone up from a 15-minute jog or 30 minutes of fast walking on a treadmill thrice a week to a 25-minute jog or 50-minute aerobics video a maximum of thrice a week. Could that be all the difference?

Maybe it's subconscious. I could be changing my diet in anticipation of a slow metabolism to come. Or maybe my concern for the impact of American consumption on the rest of the world has reached a new level.

Hope you're feeling well and healthy!

At my house, we've recently posted a new food pyramid on the fridge, but some dry-erase check lists for each of us on how many servings of which item we ate that day.

Good intentions...I am feeling stressed and have suddenly plunged headlong into a junk food orgy at work. And I bring my leftovers home! Must be a cry for help ;) I'll get a grip, I'm sure. Blame it on hormones...
