A Heavenly Tale
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
A nine-year-old girl went into the woods
And skipped a smooth stone on a pond.
The stone hit a unicorn smack in the head.
Just how would the creature respond?
With gratitude, oddly: The mare could’ve stared
For ages as rapt as Narcissus.
She said that she owed the young human a debt,
And unicorn magic grants wishes.
She never expected the wish she would grant
Consisted of being a friend.
It didn’t behoove her to hang with a child
Whose ways she could scarce comprehend.
But after some months, for a nice yuletide gift,
The kid set the unicorn free,
And lo and behold, she decided to stay
A friend, as she wanted to be.
