Not-So-Strong Language
Our raters have some funny ways of warning us of swears
And other talk that isn’t meant for little kid affairs.
At times, they say the language is “adult” or else “mature.”
In light of many comedies, I have to ask, “You sure?”
I’ve also seen advisories that lyrics are “explicit,”
Which merely means the meaning’s not so vague that you could miss it.
Perhaps the way that bugs me most is calling language “strong.”
The most excessive swearers aren’t articulate. How wrong!
I wonder why the raters don’t use simple words like “dirty.”
Perhaps they like profanity and find it rather purty.
