(no subject)
I mentioned last weekend that my week had been long because of too little to do. This week, by Wednesday, saw me with a whole lot of work, such that I'm bound to make someone antsy about a deadline if I haven't already. The number of pages alone is somewhat intimidating -- I received three assignments of more than 20 pages apiece within an hour -- but the worst thing is that the priority assignments (the ones involving the company President-CEO) are audioconference transcripts. I don't get to hear the audio this time, so it can be difficult to tell what a non-chairing speaker meant to say. And did you ever notice that people don't normally speak in paragraphs? Those grammarians who say never to start sentences with conjunctions obviously never had to record the run-ons of common parlance.
In sum, my week was almost as long as the last one. I can't win.
Okay, it's not all bad. I've been rather fortunate in my standing with the CEO. My reference for this job was a former supervisor of mine who went on to work briefly for this company but found the CEO to be very impatient, particularly with employees in the communication department. When I hear from this reference now, he always wants to know how I'm getting along with my boss. But I have yet to see the fire attributed to him. Maybe I'm doing a better job than I realize.
In the mail, I've received a card recognizing the first anniversary of the day I started working full-time for this company. It's actually next Tuesday, but I appreciate the card. Judging from the indecipherable signature, it's from the CEO. :)
