Old-Time Flair
The pyramids at Giza, back when new, were very white,
With polished limestone coats and maybe gold on top—so bright!
What wasn’t white? A statue in the days of ancient Greece.
It took a vibrant color scheme to make a finished piece.
A relatively recent statue, Lady Liberty,
Was copper till the oxidation made the green we see.
The ravages of time may take magnificence away,
But I for one prefer the less outrageous looks today.
