(no subject)
Due to Pat's schedule, we didn't have time for much activity together. Mostly we conversed, ate at a Mexican restaurant (something he couldn't do in Japan), looked at the art in my room, and planned the best way for him to proceed to Boston. Still, it was worth missing Play! for that. My mom got to meet him and like him, tho she wasn't as convinced of his resemblance to Edward Norton's character in Keeping the Faith as I was.
I think neither of us has changed dramatically since we last saw each other. Pat had lost some of the eloquence that I recall, partly from being tired and partly from having lived in Japan for two years. He also told me that he could be comfortable with a vegetarian diet now (or pesco-vegetarian, naturally). Ah, another commonality!
Some unhappy news: He had been giving a ride to Steve H., a fellow former member of the Oberlin Christian Fellowship, who turned out not to have a settled living situation. Pat didn't realize the guy was carrying everything he owned and looking to room with friends. He did find someone, but interpersonal conflicts arose as they had at his parents' home. At this point, all Pat and I can do is pray for Steve.
