Remember 3-4 months ago when I saw a raccoon cross my folks' porch? Today I learned that Rock Creek Park, which is a fairly short walk from the house, has the densest concentration of raccoons in the U.S. With that, I marvel that I hadn't seen one before. Unless it was another case of me needing glasses.

Maybe I should reprise my informal poll of whether the proximity of a celebrity or of an animal you don't see every day excites you more.

...We have green trees! Fireflies, frogs and foxes and deer all right here near our porch! Even the dumpsters have warnings on them about animals. I imagine sliding the dumpster door open to find a hissing raccoon waiting to snatch my trash bag from me as if it were groceries! ...

I loved that poll of yours. I will always be more thrilled to see an animal than a celebrity.

Raccoons were okay with me until they made their way into my school's brand new Learning Resource Center and TRASHED the place. It was a mom with 4 little babies, later to be visited by 2 relatives. Sure wasn't a pleasant experience when they decided to drop in when there were people (humans) in the facility. Ahh....hhh....hhh...I can hear you thinking....maybe she wanted to get a head start on their education.....meet people. NOT!
