Merriam-Webster's online crossword has a couple errors today. First, there is the clue "Singer Celene." Given that the answer was four letters starting with D-I, I was pretty sure they misspelled "Celine." (I'm ignoring the French accent for mercy's sake.) But then it came time to fill in the answer. The one it accepted was "DIRT."
Did the puzzle maker get clumsy in revision, leaving an old clue for a new answer? Or was it a Freudian slip?
