I've seen this error enough times, even from people with English as a first language, that I feel a need to state the correction here:

Your ancestors are your relatives who came before you, like great-great-grandparents. The term is best used for those who are long dead.

Relatives who will come after you, like great-great-grandchildren, are descendants. This should not be hard to remember.

It's an easy mistake to make. For those of us who live in the genealogy world, it would be like confusing salt and pepper, but they are not the most common terms among young folks any longer, sadly.
