Valentine meme

1. Are you single or taken?
Single.

2. Chocolate or flowers?
Chocolate. I don’t consider decoration a high priority, and flowers are depressing once they wilt.

3. Will you do anything special for Valentines Day?
I may take advantage of free candy at the office, or I might buy my own the next day.

4. Do you like anyone?
Not romantically.

5. Were you dating anyone last Valentines?
Nope.

6. What would be your dream Valentines date?
I really don’t know. It’s not something I dream about, day or night.

7. Do you make a big deal about Valentines?
Not much more than most holidays.

8. Have you ever had a secret admirer?
If so, (s)he was very secret indeed.

9. Would you ever write someone a love letter?
Dubious. I may write better than I talk, but a message like that deserves to be given in person and unscripted.

10. Do you believe in Cupid?
Who does anymore?

11. Do your parents give you presents on Valentines?
They might let me have leftover candy later, but that’s about it.

12. Do you still send out Valentines cards?
Nope.

13. Do you like candy hearts?
Yes, for eating and sometimes for reading.

14. [Missing]

15. Is Valentines depressing?
Not for me. The only part that comes close to depressing me is hearing whiners.

16. How do you feel about PDA?
I generally don’t notice what people do when they’re not talking to me. On the rare occasions that I notice PDA, I feel slightly encouraged to see the persistence of love in the world. Provided that they keep it G-rated in front of me.

17. How is your love life?
Nonexistent as always. I’m neither depressed nor proud of that.

18. Have you ever been dumped on Valentines?
I’d need a relationship first.

19. How many roses would you want?
One is plenty for me.

20. Will you have a boyfriend/girlfriend next Valentines?
Will I ever?

Saw Frost/Nixon on Saturday. To my slight surprise, it is now my second favorite movie nominated for Academy Best Picture this year, after Slumdog Millionaire. It sounds like my parents feel the same way. Who knew that the interviews, as well as the time in between and some of the time before and after, could be so riveting?

To those conservatives who think they don't want to watch, let me assure you that Nixon is portrayed in a pretty sympathetic light. I even admired and almost rooted for him early on. But Frost had more at stake, so even if I had always liked Nixon, I would ultimately be glad for Frost's victory. (And despite what IMDb claims, I don't consider that a spoiler.)

Of course, I'm too young to appreciate it in full. I had to take my folks' word for it that Michael Sheen sounded exactly like the real Sir David Frost, and even that Frank Langella sounded just like the real Richard Nixon. He wasn't a dead ringer in appearance. But maybe I'm too accustomed to caricatures.
