I feel like a fifth-year Harry Potter right now. All you LJ-ers on my Friends list have been considerate enough to hide any spoilers behind an LJ cut. The same is not true for someone on a forum I frequent. Upon seeing someone curse Snape, they thought an explanation was in order (as if anyone might ever wonder why somebody hated Snape) and posted an enlarged photo of a page from HBP, with a key quote underlined, without warning! Now I almost want to abandon the Net until I've finished the book! Which will take a while, since I enjoy reading aloud to my mom, who enjoys it equally.
I barely even relate to those who read fun books so fast. If I'm not under deadline and the text isn't boring, I like to let it linger. As it is, I've read far enough to understand the temptation to talk about it to anyone who will read your posts. Nevertheless, I darn near threatened the spoiling forumite! Could someone give me a better wizard exclamation than "Merlin's beard"? Forget it, I'll make some up: Suffering Skrewts! Doxies and dungbombs! Bloody bowtruckle boogeys!
...Well. I've let off some steam. Hopefully, I'll have the spoiler(s) far enough from my mind that I can appreciate the moment when it comes in succession. But even if not, I acknowledge intellectually that this is hardly a big deal on any but the pettiest schemes of things.
