I feel like a fifth-year Harry Potter right now. All you LJ-ers on my Friends list have been considerate enough to hide any spoilers behind an LJ cut. The same is not true for someone on a forum I frequent. Upon seeing someone curse Snape, they thought an explanation was in order (as if anyone might ever wonder why somebody hated Snape) and posted an enlarged photo of a page from HBP, with a key quote underlined, without warning! Now I almost want to abandon the Net until I've finished the book! Which will take a while, since I enjoy reading aloud to my mom, who enjoys it equally.

I barely even relate to those who read fun books so fast. If I'm not under deadline and the text isn't boring, I like to let it linger. As it is, I've read far enough to understand the temptation to talk about it to anyone who will read your posts. Nevertheless, I darn near threatened the spoiling forumite! Could someone give me a better wizard exclamation than "Merlin's beard"? Forget it, I'll make some up: Suffering Skrewts! Doxies and dungbombs! Bloody bowtruckle boogeys!

...Well. I've let off some steam. Hopefully, I'll have the spoiler(s) far enough from my mind that I can appreciate the moment when it comes in succession. But even if not, I acknowledge intellectually that this is hardly a big deal on any but the pettiest schemes of things.

I was friended by someone whose LJ username is a spoiler. In their info they have the two major spoilers of the book in big green flashy letters over the words, 'Spoiling the lives of Harry Potter fanfags since 9 hours ago,' and a scanned page from the book in a huge uncut post.

I was tipped off to its existence before I got the book so just didn't look at any new friends till I'd finished, so they wasted their effort on me (I have hidden my Friends Of list, since, so nobody else will run into it), but what kind of pathetic asshole do you have you to be? Honestly. :p

Well, that makes me feel better about the one who spoiled it for me. Guess it's just as well that I don't broadcast my strong love for HP as much as vous; the "fanfag" hater probably won't find me.

I vote for "Suffering Skrewts" myself. *lol* Sorry to hear you got spoiled. People can be so inconsiderate at times.

To be fair, I can be just as inconsiderate. I can't quite see myself spoiling to that degree, but in my tendency to go for relevance over emotion, I kinda understand the problem and therefore will forgive them when they see their error.

Glad something good came of my anger, with regard to the exclamation fest.

Turns out the forumite is being not just inconsiderate but anti-considerate, almost at the level that Ashkitty describes. Seems to think it's fun, and he's receiving a mix of approval and disapproval. This is someone I never saw as a jerk before.

I'm hoping you won't bail. I actually think of you now & then, wondering whether you'd posted that day. Besides, who else would share the Jelly Bellies with me?

Aw, that's nice of you. And I liked Jelly Bellies well before they introduced the Bertie Botts variety.

. . . and Darth Vader is Luke's FATHER!

oops.
wrong fandom.

Yes, I was deliberately coy in my review, and did not even answer what you asked, because I assume you don't want to know. I, er, wolfed it down in a weekend.

Yeah, I thought of the most famed spoiler of the modern era myself, but I couldn't think of a good way to work it into my rant. :)

At this point, I think I know the real answer anyway, but thank you for your coiety. Coyness. What have you.
